1. Will a high school certificate be enough or do I have to have a certain grade?

    • Throughout the course you will be given coursework as well as mock exams and final exams towards the end of the programme
    • Before arrival on the course you must have formal certification proving your high school education
    • For January start 5.5 IELTS score required
    • For September start 5 IELTS score required

  1. Can I join the programme late?
    • You cannot join the programme late. You must complete 24 weeks of study + 2 weeks of exams + 2 weeks holiday
  2. Can I defer entry for a year if I am accepted?
    • This would entirely be at the discretion of the university. A student could defer the NCUK IFY with MHL if they give sufficient notice but there may be some postponement fees if close to the time.
  3. What happens with regards to my CAS numbers?
    • Tier 4 visa and CASS number issued by us when you study with us
    • Tier 4 sponsored students can extend their visa whilst still in UK
    • You will reapply for the Tier 4 visa and CASS number and then will be issued with a new CASS number from the University and the you will be the relevant University’s Tier 4 student
      • Students studying at private education institutions on Tier 4 visas are not permitted to work in the UK BUT students studying at uni on Tier 4 visas are permitted to work for 20hours a week
  4. Can Malvern House guarantee that I can join a Russell Group University?
    • We can’t (there are 4 Russell Group Universities– they are very selective and require a high level of achievement on the course)
    • We can guarantee entry to the NCUK Universities
  5. What happens if I don’t want to join an NCUK university?
    • The placement coordinator can source London based University’s but we’re committed to sending most of our students to NCUK University’s.
  6. What if I decide to take only the Foundation year?
    • You can do if you wish and there won’t be any visa implications
  7. Do I have to apply for a Tier 4 visa?
    • Visa nationals do (anyone not in the EU) for more than 6 months
